Joseph E. Haniford

Alcoa Forged and Cast Products

Joseph E. Haniford is vice president and general manager, Alcoa Forged and Cast Products, a division of Alcoa Power and Propulsion. In this capacity, Joe is responsible for overall manufacturing operations in Cleveland, Ohio; the forging operations at Samara and Belaya Kalitva, Russia, and the casting operations in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Laval and Georgetown, Canada; and Evron, France.

Joe joined Alcoa in 1980 as a mechanical engineer at the company’s Warrick, Indiana operations. Since then, he has held various positions with increasing levels of responsibility in the company’s Primary Metals and the Rigid Packaging Division and Alcoa Forged and Cast Products.

In 1996, Joe was named to general manager of Alcoa’s KAAL Australia facility in Yennora, NSW, a joint venture between Kobe Steel and Alcoa. In January 1998, he assumed the position of manufacturing manager for Tennessee and Warrick Operations; in August 2000, he was appointed vice president of Sales for the Rigid Packaging Division; and in May 2001, he was named vice president and general manager of Tennessee Operations. Joe was appointed to his current position in October 2003.

Joe is a member of the Executive Committee of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of directors of a Cleveland Foundation Scholarship Program which focuses on the development of Hispanic and African American youth.

A native of Veedersburg, Indiana, Joe earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology located in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1980. He is a registered professional engineer. In 2000, he was named Distinguished Young Alumni by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
