May 12, 2011

BEIJING, China–Alcoa (NYSE:AA) and the China Center for International Economic Exchange
(CCIEE) announced today that they will collaborate on a number of
substantive issues ranging from economic development to environmental
protection.

This is the first such agreement between CCIEE and a Western corporation.

The agreement was signed in Beijing by Alcoa Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer Klaus Kleinfeld and CCIEE Secretary General Wei
Jianguo.

“This is an important step in bilateral research cooperation,” Kleinfeld
said. “Companies like Alcoa are part of the solution to today’s energy
and environmental issues in China and around the world. By sharing best
practices and leveraging our respective human and technological capital,
we can achieve great successes.”

Wei added, “CCIEE is dedicated to producing impactful research and
policy recommendations. This MoU marks an important step for CCIEE, as
partnering with a sustainable global company like Alcoa will greatly
enhance CCIEE’s global influence.”

The MoU will build on the initiatives already underway between Alcoa and
CCIEE. The cooperation will be conducted through a special task force
that will facilitate information sharing and regular meetings between
the parties. Further, Alcoa and CCIEE will strengthen cooperation in the
field of advisory and consulting.

“Alcoa and CCIEE understand that the world’s environmental challenges
can best be met by the people of the U.S. and China working together,”
CCIEE Chairman Zeng Peiyan said. “This MoU will make substantial
progress on this front.”
