Alcoa Names José Aurélio Drummond President of Alcoa Latin America

Drummond to Support Alcoa’s Transformation Strategy in Latin America

Lightweight metals leader Alcoa (NYSE:AA) today announced that José
Aurélio Drummond will join the Company as President of Latin America
effective March 9, 2015. Mr. Drummond, 50, will lead Alcoa’s Latin
America region, supporting the Company’s transformation strategy through
which Alcoa is growing its value-add businesses and creating a globally
competitive commodity business. Mr. Drummond currently serves on Alcoa’s
Brazil Advisory Board and previously held global leadership roles at
Whirlpool Corporation for 14 years. He will be based in São Paulo,
Brazil.

“José brings significant knowledge of Alcoa and experience managing and
growing global operations, making him uniquely qualified to lead our
Latin America region where we are building our value-add businesses,”
said Alcoa Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Klaus Kleinfeld. “José
will partner with Alcoa’s businesses and represent the Company in
interactions with regional policy makers, regulatory authorities,
industry sector leaders and other key stakeholders to facilitate growth
initiatives for our operations in the region.”

From 1999 through 2013, Mr. Drummond held several leadership positions
at Whirlpool. Those roles included President for Europe, Middle East and
Africa and President for Latin America Region Appliances and Compressors
which, under Mr. Drummond’s tenure, grew and substantially improved the
region’s profitability, increasing its contribution within Whirlpool’s
global business. He has been a member of Alcoa’s Brazil Advisory Board
since 2013. He also worked for Alcoa Alumínio from 1995 to 1999 in
several roles, including as General Manager of the Packaging and Casting
Divisions. Most recently, Mr. Drummond was Senior Operating Partner at
an independent private equity firm which focuses on investments in South
America.

Mr. Drummond holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and metallurgical
engineering from Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial in São Paulo and
completed the Executive Development Program at the Wharton School of
Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Interim President Ricardo Sayão, who led the region since January 2015,
will continue in his role as Vice President of Finance for Latin America.
